Equipe Media has learned from a Saharawi spokesperson of the Saharawi People’s Committee convoy that it departed on Thursday morning from the refugee camps heading to Guergarat where they will organize a sit-in. They have been stopped in Eddougej by soldiers of the First military region of the SADR (Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic) for screening and identification checks.
«that would still be within routine security operations run by military region officers to force the civilian population away from strategic areas or those contaminated by mines or explosive remnants of war» said the source adding that the convoy will continue its way South towards Guergarat after the coordinators of the People’s Committee are able to locate the place of the sit-in and provide logistical support to dozens of volunteers who are eager to protest against Morocco’s violation of one of the terms of the ceasefire, the plundering and the export of Western Sahara’s wealth. Precisely many stolen Saharawi goods go to West African countries.
The spokesperson underlined the sit-in is a spontaneous, peaceful and civilized public expression on the Sahrawi’s rejection of Morocco’s contempt for international law, and a reminder to the international community of the need to assume its responsibilities towards the last colony in Africa.
In the end, the source revealed that the popular sit-in will be joined by the Saharawi civil society and will not be limited in terms of time.
Equipe Media will continue its coverage of these events .
